HMRC Has The Landlord Amnesty Finished?

 In Amnesty, HMRC Investigation, Landlord

Landlords who have failed to declare their property profits can still pay what they owe under Britain’s first tax amnesty.

HM Revenue & Customs is warning property investors that specialist task forces are ready to target those with undeclared rent profits or gains from disposing of homes.

You will still have to pay back-tax (plus interest) but HMRC will go easy on the penalties – which can be significant.

If you are simply renting a room in your house (that you live in) you should be exempt under HMRC’s rent a room scheme, more here.
